Hyderabad Metro Rail Project L&T Wins

Chief Minister K Rosaiah, approved the recommendations of a Larsen and Toubro (L&T) which has acquired the sum of Rs 12,132 crore for Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project. L&T was selected out of six companies that bid for the mega project in Hyderabad, which was initially awarded to Maytas Infra in 2008 a sister-concern of Satyam as it failed to reach financial closure.


The other companies that involved in bidding are Reliance Infrastructure, Lanco Infratech, GVK, GMR, L&T, Soma-Straburg, Transstroy and Essar groups abd finally it was L&T with lowest bidding for the metro rail project in Hyderabad. Ground work for the Hyderabad metro rail project will be starting by end of December 2010 or January 2011 keeping in aim to complete within 5 years which covers over 70kms of traffic route in the city with highly comfort & safety oriented features.


Project Description:

Two tracks, up and down lines

Standard gauge track

Speeds of 34 kmph on an average to 80 kmph max

Stations at 1 km distance with staircases, escalators and lifts

Continuously welded rails to minimize the noise levels

AC coaches with automatic door movements

Automatic Train Control (ATC)

Automatic Train Protection (ATP)

Upgradation to Automatic Train Operation (ATO)

  1. The Hitech cities like hyderabad has so many vehicles for travelling. This may leads traffic conjestion and air pollution especially peak hours. Metro rail is the solution for the traffic probelem and also Our traffline provides the proper navigation to free sided direction to all riders with simple way and reduce the traffic jam and also reduce the air pollution and noise pollution.

  2. The state government is likely to tie-up either with the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation or Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the construction of second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
